Bathroom Makeover

Hello World!

Recently I was browsing around my local Target (as one does) and I stumbled across a clearance section. Now, this area is usually full of nonsense items that I don’t actually need in my life but the aura of Target seems to convince me otherwise, but not this time.

As I’ve mentioned, I moved into my own apartment this year and I’m still in the process of making it my own.

This time this particular section was full of bathroom essentials: shower curtains, towels, bath matts, the whole shebang! It was in that moment that I decided my bathroom needed a makeover. I think after everything I spent around $80, which I think is pretty reasonable considering towels alone are more expensive than, a piece of fabric used to dry your body, should be.

Above is everything that I decided to get. I ended up not using the vanity mirror in my bathroom but I have other plans for it… Below I will link all the items (or similar ones) for you all to browse and enjoy.

Wood and brass vanity mirror – Threshold

Striped beige linen shower curtain – Threshold

Soft Vinyl Shower Liner – Room Essentials

Herringbone White Bath Towels –  Threshold

Herringbone White Hand Towels – Threshold

Double Glide Bronze Shower Hooks – Threshold

Striped Accent Bath Rug – Threshold

As I was linking all the items I noticed a theme… I love the Threshold brand!! They are just killing the game in my opinion haha I highly recommend their product lines at Target.

Finally! Here it is, the before and after of my bathroom!

Before:

After:

I love how my bathroom turned out! It was the exact look I was going for. Living on my own has really taught me about my taste and has given me so many opportunities to fully express who I am. If you enjoyed this transformation let me know below and comment what room I should show next!!!

xoxo!!

2019 Bucket List

Hello World!

We are a month into 2019 and it has been a time of reflection. As I look back on 2018, I wonder how I ever got through the year. 2018 was full of pain, change and overall growth; and I could not be more thankful for it. With that being said, I will take a note from the wise Ariana Grande; 2018, thank you, next. 2019, I’m coming for ya. I’ve got that, “I want it, I got it” attitude and nothing will slow me down. Like every new year my social media gets blasted with everyone’s resolutions. I see these unrealistic goals that people set for themselves that they probably wont keep after 2 weeks. As much as I love disappointing myself by not sticking to one goal I pressure myself into thinking I need to accomplish: I decide to do something different.

So I started this year by sitting down and making a list. A bucket list to be exact. A list of things that I want to complete in 2019. Throughout the month I’ve added to the list and have started to cross some off. With the list constantly growing and changing, it really helps to remember the goals I’ve accomplished when I feel that I haven’t accomplished much. With that, here is my list:

Get a tattoo
Go to more concerts
Take a road trip
Be more active
Do more yoga
Finally Chop Hair (see photos below)
Be present
Say "Yes" to more things
Speak my mind
Drink more water
Do 1 thing a day that brings me joy
Set aside time to do something creative twice a week
Continue to practice self love/self-care

I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2019 has in store for me. I look forward to sharing all my adventures with you all. I would love to hear what you put on your bucket lists! Let’s reach our goals together!!!

A New Chapter

a4ad2dd6-1ddd-4bdc-a917-20e5a7d67cc1
Hello world! I’m back. In the time that I have been gone a lot has happened. Some good, some bad, but I want to share it all with you guys! A few of the events will have their own post so I wont get into too many details here. So, lets get started. Today will be a little over two months since my last post. In that time I have travel to 2 different states, moved again (kind of), got out of a relationship, and really started my journey of self love/care.  These past two months gave me a much needed break and clarity on where I want to be and what I want to be doing.

Even though I wasn’t posting while I was away I was still working on content for you guys! I got the opportunity to meet an amazing guy, Geoff, who gave me the chance to get out of my comfort zone a little. Geoff is an up and coming photographer in the Denver, Colorado area. Geoff is a friend of a friend and very kindly agreed to wander around Denver taking photos of me. That was something I’ve never experienced before. For the most part I like to stay behind the camera, but the more I practice self love, the more I realize that there is nothing to be scared of. All the pictures on this post (plus many more to come), were taken by him. I would love for everyone to go check out more of his stuff! His Instagram is: captured_rooster. Please go over and show him some love.

One of the more difficult things that I went through during these past two months was my breakup. I had been with my ex for 2 1/2 years. Breakups are never easy, especially when you live together and have created a whole life together. It can be devastating. I don’t want to get into too much detail on it, but I would like to say that even though at the time it felt like everything around me was crumbling down, I know that in the end I will be stronger because of it. I think it also took that experience to really push me to put myself first. I want nothing but happiness for him, as well as myself. I will continue to turn a negative into a positive.

I have so many ideas on posts I want to write but I would also love your input! Please comment below telling me what type of things you like to read most! It can be hauls, DIY, product reviews, favorites, day in the life, etc. I can’t wait to share all of my ideas with you guys!

Pacifica Beauty Haul

Hello!! You guys, I am so excited to write this post! I’m excited because I am about to share with you one of my favorite brands, Pacifica. Now I first heard about this brand from my older sister who received one of their products in her ipsy bag. Ever since then I have loved their products! Not only is it quality beauty products but their products are two of my favorite things – 100% vegan and cruelty free. I don’t think I have found a beauty line that I have like so many of their products, as much as I like Pacifica.

You’ll notice that 3 of the 5 products listed have coconut as an ingredient. Coconut water/milk/oil has done WONDERS for my skin, face and life. If I am ever looking for new products and it has coconut listed as an ingredient, there is a 95% chance I’m going to purchase it haha. Alright, let’s get to the good stuff. Below I will list everything I purchased and the link so you guys can check them out for yourself! Enjoy!

Pacifica Coconut Milk Cream to Foam Face Wash: I have used this face wash every single day since I bought it. I absolutely love the fact that it is cream to foam. It is gentle on my skin from start to finish. I wash my face with this twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). I love that after every wash my skin looks cleaner and clearer.

Pacifica Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream:  This cream has been a LIFESAVER! I have had a hard time finding a cream for my face that I really like. This product smells great and feels great on my skin. It dries quickly which made it easy to work into my everyday routine. I will apply a small amount to my face every morning before I put on my makeup. It keeps my face moisturized throughout the day under my makeup. I think that as the weather gets nicer it is nice to have a reliable face cream to keep you looking good all day.

Pacifica Super Flower Rapid Response Face Oil: I never knew how much I love face oils until I found this one. I have always been unsure about oils because I have combination skin. Which means my face gets dry and oily, sometime at the same time. I have started using this oil right before I go to bed. I feel like this allows enough time for my skin to fully absorb all the vitamins.

Pacifica Stress Rehab Face Mask: This mask worked wonders on my bags under my eyes. Some nights I get horrible sleep and using this mask in the morning before I start getting ready helps me get my day started off nicely. I would recommend to anyone who wants a little more tightening or anyone who wants to reduce puffiness in their face.

Pacifica Pollution Fight Face Mask: HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS!! This is the most AMAZING face mask I have ever used! First of all, it smells delightful. Second, it made my face so clear the next day! I have never seen such a fast acting formula. I would recommend this mask to every one I know.  It really does pull out dirt and other gross things from your face.

I could honestly go on and on about this brand and their products. I am so happy that I have found a brand that I love and meets so many of my needs. I can’t wait to try more of their skin care products and branch out into their makeup as well. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products or any other Pacifica products!

xoxo!!

Adventure Time: Hidden Falls

Hello!! Spring is here!! Well…kind of. I don’t usually trust the good weather here until about July, and even then I can’t make any promises. Luckily this past weekend in the high 70’s, which means it is time to get into nature! I am pretty lucky in the sense that I can travel about 30 minutes and hit mountains. I am also lucky  because I am very close with/ and live very close to my mom and siblings. So last weekend we decided to take advantage of the good weather and go for our first hike of the season! I have hiked to the Hidden Falls before but it was the first time for my older sister, Amelia, and my mom.

The hike from the start to the Falls is 2 miles (so 4 miles there and back). It is one of the easier trails in this specific area however, there are a few parts that you have to climb over some larger rocks. The trail is pretty straight forward as long as you follow the correct signs haha. It really was the perfect day for a hike and we even packed a lunch! The sun was out but it was slightly overcast, which meant there was a slight cool wind. Warm enough to be outside but cool enough to not sweat my butt off the whole hike.

The one down side to it being a perfect day is that the trail was so busy! Everyone took advantage of the lovely weather which was just inconvenient to my life haha. There were children and dogs and mountain bikes….OH MY! Because the trail was busy and there were so many people at the actual Falls, I couldn’t get a good picture of it. I do know that once the weather stays nice for an extended period of time, fewer people will want to be active.  Hopefully I can get back there soon to take some more cool pictures!

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my adventure. If you like post like this please let me know in the comments below! Also, if you would like to start seeing videos of my adventures along with photos let me know!!! I want to hear about your fun adventures too so share, share, share!!! Until next time…

Every Day Makeup

Hello!! Let me start off this post by saying I am not a morning person. I have an 8a.m.-5p.m. job and every day is a struggle for me to wake up with enough time to get fully ready for the day. In the past I would try to squeeze a full face of glam makeup in about 15 minutes of getting ready…the results were very bad. As I’ve grown up – and accepted that I will never leave myself enough time to fully get ready in the morning – I have perfected my everyday makeup look! I am very excited to share with you my favorite products and as always I will link each product down below!

Okay, so, I have just included my makeup portion of my routine. Before I put any of this on my face I will wash it and apply moisturizer! Let’s get started:

No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation: I get the shade “Cool Vanilla”. I have been using this foundation for YEARS!!! It really is my holy grail product. I use this all year – on the days I do a full face of makeup – and have never had any problems with it. It is hypoallergenic, so it doesn’t make me break out. It is also full coverage but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It blends very well! This brand has a lot of foundations like this one, but my favorite part about this specific on is that it is matte. I have weird combination skin and I don’t really like the “dewy” look that other foundations tend to create. I recommend this to everyone I know!

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer: I get this product in the color “Fair”. I like this product because it I can go a day with only this on and it last all day long. I have very red cheeks and nose and this concealer does a really good job at making my skin look even. It is also a great price and I can find it at pretty much any drugstore.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise: In the color black. I originally got this product because I heard it was a dupe for the Too Faced “Better Than Sex” mascara and let me tell you….I was not disappointed! It really thickens your lashes while spreading them out. It doesn’t go on clumpy and it comes off easily at the end of the night. I will put on a coat of this mascara

Revlon Color Stay Liquid Eyeliner: In the color black. I really enjoy the liquid eyeliner that have a felt tip. I have a love/hate relationship with winged eyeliner and the felt tip helps make it more love and less hate. My only issue with this specific liner is that if  I mess up or try to remove any part of it, it smudges real bad. So I end up wiping my all the makeup off around my eye.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist: In the color Medium Brown. I really like this product. I fill my eyebrows in every day just to give them a little more shape and fullness. In the past I would just use a dark brown eye shadow and an angled brush until I found this product. I have always been a little weary of eyebrow pencils or other filler products because I don’t like the look of wet eyebrows. This product doesn’t do that at all!!! It also has a bunch of product in the pot so it last FOREVER!!!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter: In the shade “Champagne Pop”. This highlighter is something that I have wanted to purchase for a very long time. A few months ago I decided that I needed to “treat myself” and get it. Best. Decision. Ever. I had a hard time deciding what shade I wanted, but Champagne Pop created more of a “golden goddess” type look that I wanted. It is nicely pigmented and goes on so smoothly. I think that this product is worth saving up for.

No7 Match Made Bronzer: In the shade “Caramel”. I just recently found this product while wandering around target. Like I have mentioned above I absolutely LOVE the No7 brand foundation, so I figured I’d give it a try. This brand has yet to let me down. I am so impressed by how the color looks on my skin. It looks like a bronze and not a weird orange/brown color.

Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Lace Makeup brush Set- 6pc: In the lace pattern. I also found these brushes while wandering around target. The second I saw them I knew I had to get them. I got the whole set for $20 and it is by far the best $20 I have ever spent. The brushes are so soft and just such great quality. I use them every day.

Mini ULTA Beauty Haul

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you what I got at ULTA. For those of you who don’t know, ULTA is a store that sells basically all things beauty. It is kind of like a Sephora, but has hair care and skin care, as well as makeup. This time around I only purchased a few skin care products, and yes, 5 of the 6 products are face masks because I have no self control when it comes to face masks. My collection is quickly growing and I’m not mad about it! I like to justify my obsession with face masks by setting aside at least 20 minutes a day to relax and put one on. Its my “me time”.

So I went into ULTA without a plan (which to be honest is never a good idea), and I wandered aimlessly through the skincare section. Recently I watched Zoella’s Huge American Haul video and as I walked I remembered some of the face masks she got. Like Zoe, I am a sucker for a gimmick. However, since I have never tired these brands before, I opted for simple sheet masks instead of the mask pots. I will link each product to the ULTA website so you guys can check them out!

Egg White Pore Mask by Skinfood

I’m Real Rice Mask Sheet by TONYMOLY

I’m Real Peach Mask Sheet by TONYMOLY

I’m Real Seaweed Mask Sheet by TONYMOLY

I’m Real Cherry Blossom Mask Sheet by TONYMOLY

Enzyme Cleansing Gel by Mario Badescu

Now the Egg White pore mask only came in  pot so I grabbed it anyway. Also the Enzyme Cleansing Gel isn’t a face mask but a face wash. Still it feeds my need to constantly buy more skincare products! So far I have tried the I’m Real Rice Mask Sheet and the I’m Real Seaweed Mask Sheet and I absolutely love both of them! These masks you keep on for 20-30 minutes and in that time about 90% of the product absorbs into your skin and any product left over you massage in after you take the mask off. I usually do my mask time right before I go to sleep and in both cases my face has felt great the next morning. I definitely recommend checking these products out!

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried any of these masks and what face mask is your favorite!!!

Dove Product Review

Hello everyone! I don’t know about you but for me it is very hard to find a brand that I buy a majority of my products from. However, recently I have been doing that with Dove. I first found this brand when I was in need of a good dry shampoo. Boy did I find one. From there I wanted to try more and more of their products. I love this brand because it is a great price for the quality of the products. I have four products of theirs that I purchase regularly; two hair products and two body products.

  • Dove Refresh + Care: Volume & fullness dry shampoo. So I basically bathe in dry shampoo. I use it on first day hair for styling, second day hair for volume and third day hair to try and trick everyone into thinking it’s not third day hair. With that being said I needed to find a dry shampoo that did everything I needed it to without leaving my hair feeling even more dirty. This product comes out as a white spray but very easily absorbs any unwanted oil in my hair and blends into my dark brown hair color. It also gives my hair volume throughout the day! There is no need to reapply. Added bonus: it smells great!
  • Dove Style + Care: I was never really into using mousse. That was until I found a way to give myself a lovely blow out. On days when I don’t feel like doing anything to my hair but still want a little volume and style, I just spray a small amount in my hand and apply it to my roots after I get out of the shower. I rub it into my roots and then blow dry my hair while using a round brush to give it a slight curl. I make sure to lift up from the roots so my hair gets bigger. My boyfriend will use this as well to style his hair sometimes and he loves it too. It doesn’t make my hair feel weird or crunchy (which is a great thing).
  • Dove Advanced Care: I have very sensitive skin so it has been hard finding a deodorant that didn’t irritate me. The advanced care works so well and I can apply it right after shaving without the fear of it making my skin break out. I love the coconut scent and the smooth application. If you aren’t into stick deodorant, they also have it in a spray.
  • Dove Shower Foam: I didn’t realize how much I would love this product until I used it. First, I love that it is a foam. Just two pumps is enough for my whole body. Second, it has Shea butter in it which makes my skin so happy and nourished. Third, it smells wonderful!! I grabbed this products because I was out of body wash and wanted to try a foam one. This truly makes my skin feel amazing. After using it I don’t need to use as much lotion on my body after the shower. It is especially amazing while it is still cold out and my skin needs all the extra love it can get. I highly recommend this product. They have other scents in this foam range if you don’t like vanilla.

Not only is the women’s line of products amazing but I know that the men’s line is great as well. They are the only shower products that my boyfriend will buy. I know they have a wider variety of products that I am very excited to try for myself. I linked each product to the Target website, check them out!

Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite Dove product or if you try any of them out!!

xoxo!!

Midweek Motivation: 2 Difficult Co-Workers

Hello world! This week’s midweek motivation is brought to you by unpleasant co-workers. You know that one person that thinks everything they do is the best work ever done. The person who will do one thing all day and then get mad when you are trying to juggle five things at once. The type of person who is constantly negative about everything and always has a very specific opinion on anything that’s happening. I could go on and on about the person I have in mind but I’m sure you’re thinking of your own co-worker. There are days when I think “how can I possibly get through the day sitting next to this person” but then I think to myself, just because this person is bothering me they aren’t preventing me from doing the best I can at my job. That thought is something that I have been trying to work on every day when I show up for my job. It’s not fun working with difficult people, but sometimes we don’t have a choice. All we can do is put a smile on our faces and get the job done because in the end you will come out on top. I’ll be honest, I’ve struggled taking my own advice on this for a while and I’m still working on it. But I have come up with a list of ways to try to make working with difficult people a little easier.

So from my brain to yours, here is my top 6 ways to work with difficult people:

  1. Don’t loose your cool. I know that it is easy to get overwhelmed and want to freak out on the other person for not helping, but by keeping your cool it will show your manager and other co-workers that you can work under pressure and juggle many tasks at once.
  2. Don’t take it personally. This tip is really hard for me to remember. I like when people like me, so if one of my co-workers gives me a bit of an attitude or just doesn’t do their job, I take it to heart. I shouldn’t. We all have our bad days and at the end of the day, you don’t know what’s going on in that persons personal life. The reason they are upset or unhelpful could have literally nothing to do with you.
  3. Don’t expect their behavior to change. There are many days where I sit at my desk and think “why am I sitting here helping every person that walks in and she is on Facebook”, yet day after day she does the same thing. If I come into work thinking she is going to change then I will just leave feeling frustrated. In different words, don’t expect anything.
  4. Connect with the people you can help. In my line of work I have found that it is highly effective to make connections with the people I work with. Whether it is my other co-workers or someone who comes in needing help. I have had my manager come to me many times saying how great of a job I am doing because of those connections I am making. It proves that I value MY job over anything.
  5. Try to understand why that person is difficult. I have worked with a lot of people in my life and something I’ve found out is that some people just don’t have a good work ethic. For all I know, she could be thinking she is doing an A+ job.
  6. Offer your help. Even if the task they are doing is simple, if you have free time reach out and see if there is anything you can do to help them. Hopefully they will take a note and help you in return. Again, even if they don’t help you, you reaching out shows that you are willing to help when you have the time and that reflects positively on you.

I know that some days you will feel overwhelmed and underappreciated, but trust me when I say, I have used these tips myself and it has really worked in my favor. The most important thing to remember is that you are always going to have to deal with difficult people in your life, just make sure not to become that difficult person.

That’s all I have for you today! I would LOVE to hear your ways of working with difficult co-workers in the comments below!!

xoxo!!

Midweek Motivation: 1

Alright everyone, it’s Wednesday. That means we are half way through the week. I don’t know about you but I can already taste the weekend. Recently I seem to find that Wednesdays drag on and on. It’s hard to stay motivated to do, really, anything.  All I can think about is the weekend, sleeping in, binge watching everything on Netflix, and pretty much anything that doesn’t have to do with my 9-5 job. Now, I hate being unmotivated. I am constantly planning out different aspects of my life in my head, so when I make plans and then don’t see them through I get pretty upset with myself. So I have decided that I am going to use Wednesdays as a day full of motivation. Instead of being upset that the day seems to be the longest day of the week, I am going to use that imaginary “extra time” to make sure I’m doing things that help me reach my goals.

(If you want to know my goals for the year go check out my Vision board post!!)

There are a few things that I am unmotivated to do when I feel the day slowing down. Some of those things include going to the gym, cleaning my house, and actually creating content. Below I am going to share with you some ticks I use to make it through my Wednesday blues.

Going to the gym:

I made it one of my goals this year to get back into shape. That means that I have to actually leave my house and interact with other humans…..I’m not really into that haha. Luckily I have a boyfriend who decided to keep me on track with this goal. My biggest problem is that once I start feeling sore I don’t want to move until I feel better. I have started using Wednesdays as the day to exercise the way I love most. Whether that means doing some yoga, a Zumba class,  going on a hike (when it’s not freezing outside), whatever makes me feel better than being surrounded by people significantly stronger than me. If I do an activity I love, not only will I be getting my workout in, but I will feel better throughout my body, mind and soul.

Cleaning my house:

Let me start by saying that I live with two boys. My boyfriend and his friend. Let me also say that I do not claim to be the cleanest person, but I usually just stick to making my office a mess with papers and unnecessary things from my past. Me and the boys are also on different work schedules, so when I get home after work there are usually multiple meals that have been had by them all over the house. So cleaning….is a job and a half. Don’t get me wrong, they will also clean so it’s not just left on me, but when it’s my turn, I like to have little to no distractions. To make cleaning better I will grab my beats and listen to a podcast. Currently I am catching up on some John Jay and Rich radio.

(I am OBSESSED with this radio show)

I like listening to podcast because it feels like I’m having a conversation with someone. It keeps my brain active. Whereas, I usually just zone out listening to music. A few other podcast I enjoy are “Not too Deep with Grace Helbig” and “Jenna+Julien Podcast”.

Creating content:

6fe6bb0a-4f79-4136-bcbe-be24703338d5This is probably one of the hardest things to do when I am feeling unmotivated. That is because I second guess everything. Everything I try to create doesn’t feel good enough to me. One thing that I have been trying not to do is put as much pressure on myself. If I am feeling stuck, I take a step back and revisit it later with a clear mind. I try to spend time not only creating content but revisiting some of my favorite content created by other amazing people. I get inspiration from the people I follow on Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.  Revisiting the content that I love helps me focus on what I want my content to look like and represent. I highly recommend looking into other creators that you admire. I have found sooooo many people that I dream of working with through people I watch/read on the regular.

Wednesdays can be hard but your attitude towards it is what makes the day harder. The most important thing to remember is it is OK to feel unmotivated sometimes. And it is OK to give yourself a break. As long as you don’t let that feeling take over your everyday life. Stay positive, stay motivated, stay you!!! I’d love for all of you to comment down below and tell me what helps you stay motivated during the week!!!
